This week has been pretty fantastic! Once again Sunday was probably my favorite day. So this week we found two new investigators and they both came to church this sunday! One of them is an older guy who has studied religion and is super open to learning about more of what we believe in and agrees that it makes sense that we would have a prophet today! The other one is a guy who is a little rough looking, he has a few piercing and tattoos and some pretty long hair. But he is so nice. Then our investigator who is still working on quitting smoking and drinking came and he has quit smoking! and is working on quitting drinking and he got new clothes and just looked really nice and look like he is doing and feeling better. AND our investigator who is half itailian half african and has lived in denmark 20 years and is a professional chef. He came for the first time! It was amazing! And to be honest I was super worried about how the ward would react to the really rough looking investigator and our other investigators but it was amazing! I think every member of our ward went up and said hi and introduced themselves to our investigators who were there for the first time. I just wanted to hug every single one of them. and the investigator who is a chef stayed for sacrament and sunday school and he said he loved it! And the rough looking investigator stayed all three hours and he loved the whole thing and was making friends with the people in the ward. I was just so happy I could not stop smiling. And all of them said that they would come again next week! Ah! It was fantastic! The only thing is that I am giving a talk next Sunday... in Danish. I am terrified. Hopefully it will turn out okay...
This week our british friend left on his trip to Iceland/New York/Utah/Florida so that was kind of sad to see him go, but it is also a really good thing I think for him and the missionaries. Hopefully the trip is really good for him and helps him a lot.
The other really exciting thing that happened this week was when we got to meet with our swedish investigator again after he has been in Sweden for Christmas. So sister Rovig and I have been so excited to meet with him because he loves challenges so we came up with this challenge that he has to live like a mormon would for a week and see if he can see a difference in his life and feel the spirit more. We called it LLAMA Live Like A Mormon Always. so we were way excited to meet with him and then he brought a friend with him to our lesson and his friend is also a ballroom dancer and actually is a member of the church just inactive and this guy was so excited about the challenge and asked if he could do it with him and wants to meet with us somemore and was talking about how they are going to do it together. It was awesome! And it was so funny, so here are two 20 year old guys who live in Europe where people start drinking, smoking and doing other bad things at like 13, and when we gave them the list of things they had to do (pray morning and night, read scriptures 15 min everyday, church, word of wisdom, law of chasity, no high rated movies, clean language) the things that they said would be the hardest was language. The other stuff they were totally excited for. We were so excited about ti.
The not so great thing that happened this week was our phone stopped working. So we have to wait until thursday to get a new phone. We are discovering that missionary work moves a lot slower without phone and it is a lot more diffficult but we are working it out.
Oh! another highlight was how we found our really rough looking investigator. So we were sitting on the bus going to contact this less active guy and I see this guy keep looking at us (which is normal, people stare at us a lot) But I finally made eye contact with this guy and just smiled at him, half expecting him to do what everyone else does which is quickly look away. But instead he gets up and comes over to talk to us. And he just says 'I didn't know that they had girl missionaries, I thought it was just dudes.' so we were like yeah there are girl missionaries. And we asked him how he had heard of the church and it turns out he loves Lindsey Stirling (look her up, she is awesome) and she is a mormon so he had heard about it through her and had actually met Elders before and they had given him a Book of Mormon. So we kept talking to him and he said he would totally be interested in learning more and meeting some more so that is how we got his number and met with him twice last week and have another appointment with him this week. It was such a miracle! It has also been super fun because he is so open to a lot of different beliefs and he told us how he is open to there being a God but he is also open to it all being aliens (rumvæsener)
Another fantastic thing about Sunday, remember the less active single mom who came with her son last week, well she came again this week! she was so excited and when we met with her this week she talked about how she wants to work to get her patriarchal blessing and to go to the temple and she came this week even though her son was with his dad for the weekend. It was amazing! She came early and was so cute and had her scriptures out the whole time and she told us how she has been studying in them everyday. Ah man that was fantastic.
